Poetry

As with David, many writers express their love and praise to God through poetry. Poetry can be a vehicle with which we  convey  our emotions on the deepest level.

We hope you will enjoy the selections from a variety of poets. Each will have a style of their own.

This month we feature a poem entitled “Come In Lord” written by Evelyn “Sis” Helt. This is one poem from her book Poems Alive, published in 2006. God has been working through Sis bringing poems to mind in almost any location and at various time, even in the middle of the night.

Come In Lord

Come on in Lord

I’m waiting for You

I know now before

It was You knocking too.

But I was too busy-

I cried “go away”

My door can’t be opened-

Too busy today.”

Twas many the time

This knocking was heard

But oh had I known-

It was You knocking-Lord

I would’ve invited You in

Don’t You see-

I need You much more

Than You must need me

You’ve loved me

Could I ask for more?

You’ve done this because

I have opened my door.

Thank you Lord.
