‘Joy...in the Morning’

'The Battle of All Battles'

                                                    by Dotty Moore

Easter is upon us. Hallelujah! Christ lives! The power of the

Resurrection is the solid-rock foundation of our faith.

Belief in Jesus Christ and His resurrection is more than "religious"

                                    adherence to the Christian faith. Believing in Jesus is personal;

Christ is a personal Savior; He is a personal Lord. The Holy Spirit who empowered Christ's resurrection is the same power which upholds us as we fight the battle inherent to our human condition.

Every day there's something hard. Hard to get through. Hard to deal with. By the power of the Holy Spirit, God creates the environment in which we can succeed. He doesn't eliminate the battles, but His grace helps us redefine success as perseverance.

For me, my personal battles include the battle to write. By choice, I'm committed to writing about God, His Gospel, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It is from this perspective--a desire to be obedient--I share today's thoughts...

For more than two decades, when my column ran in the secular press, I designated specific days each week for writing. Those were the days! What a fight! Scores of people who lifted me up in prayer--week in and week out--all concurred: A definite force was out to prevent God's Word and biblical concepts from appearing in the 'Joy...in the Morning' newspaper column. The force applied its devious tricks-of-the-trade to thwart nearly every effort to find inspiration wherever God had placed it. The force was ruthless, relentless...and so blatantly stupid. It never learned that it could not outmaneuver God's Holy Spirit.

God's Holy Spirit! Now there's a Force. A Power. A Strength above all others. Without the Holy Spirit I could not have lasted nearly 21 years as an inspirational columnist in the secular print media. Without the Holy Spirit, my path would have been rutted, dark and impassable. Without the Holy Spirit, this 'Joy...in the Morning' etc. website would not have been created, and I would not be telling you: The war is still raging, and it is still worth fighting! You better believe it!

Months have gone by since the last column ran in this website spot. Outdated electronics, temperamental technology and personal health issues created domino-effect detours. The battle has been intense, but this, too, has been under the watchful care of the ever present Holy Spirit. The evil force bent on disruption of ministry is still hanging on the periphery, but the Lord and His army are nearer still, in the eye of the storm.

Now, with updated equipment, renewed focus and even a website makeover, we're pushing onward!

As personal as all of this is, when I speak of the "battle inherent", I'm not only talking about myself and my writing ministry, I'm also talking about you, too. You are called to serve the Lord where He has planted you. You face your own uphill struggles, battles and roadblocks.

As we read in Ephesians 6:12, the war "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world" is a real and present danger to every last one of us. The battlefield is our daily life. Whatever God has called you or me to do, we will need to call on Him to help us do it! We can do little to nothing in our own strength. The power to wrestle through must come from God's indwelling Holy Spirit.

There is no greater example of God's power, strength and might than Easter Sunday. If we need reminded of what God is capable of, this is it: Christ's victory over death is final, eternal, for Himself and for every last one of us. For all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved (Acts 16:31).

Christ's death on the cross and His arising, alive, from the tomb was the battle of all battles. He won! He defeated the force that was trying to defeat Him. Christ defeated the enemy and He continues to do so to this very day. It is no coincidence, at the Name of Jesus, Satan has to flee. He must! He simply is blown away by the rushing wind of Jesus' Name.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, sweetest Name I know. Fills my every longing and keeps me singing as I go.

If singing seems out of place when the war between good and evil is raging, it shouldn't. With God's Holy Spirit empowering us in the Name of Jesus, we have every reason to sing and to celebrate. The outcome of our trials and temptations, our struggles and our setbacks is already a victory won. We have only to make it to the finish line to see for ourselves.

To that end, we are on our way!

May you and yours savor a glorious Easter Sunday. Praise the Lord, He who is risen...lives!
